Pastoral Transition Team Charge On behalf of the entire congregation, the PTT will, with the guidance of Holy Spirit and in consultation with the Committee on Ministry (COM) of North Puget Sound Presbytery:
- Provide ample opportunity for the congregation to understand the pastoral selection process, ask questions, and participate in that process appropriately.
- Plan for and implement congregational forums and informational meetings designed to communicate transitional needs and update progress.
- Communicate regularly with the congregation utilizing a variety of media.
- Encourage prayer support for all aspects of transition.
- Work closely with the COM liaison in developing an Interim Pastor Position Description and selecting an Interim Pastor.
- Receive recommendations for Interim Pastor from the Executive Presbyter/COM and conduct all elements of the search (evaluation PIFs through interviews and reference checks) for the Interim Pastor with COM liaison to present to session for interview and decision.
- Negotiate contract with Interim Pastor and recommend contract to session and to COM for concurrence
- Support and advise the Interim Minister and be involved in the mission study process depending on who session decides they would like to lead the mission study – could be transition team, session, or Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC). COM liaison and EP will help assess the way to go when the time comes.
- Oversee a farewell celebration for Pastor Paul in May (this may be a separate committee)
- Assist the COM and Session in preparing the congregation to receive the Interim Pastor and, eventually, the newly Installed Pastor.
- Support and advise the Interim Minister.
- Make written reports to the Session monthly
- Two elders – one of whom will be active on the Session
- Two deacons – one of whom will be an active deacon
- Two congregational members at large
