Just try to imagine yourself, a young lady, living back in 1891 where fancy gowns and elegance surround you daily. Your home is a castle where hired help is at your beck and call. Fancy dinners and grand balls are held weekly. Enter Michael, the family boat-keeper and son of the hired help. Both are drawn to each other, however, their class status sets them worlds apart. When Fanny receives a surprising inheritance, well, perhaps you need to read the book to find out what happens.
I had never read a Christian historical fiction before ... preferring more contemporary stories. Once I got into it, I was hooked. As the story opens, we meet three cousins who have three different personalities and outlooks on life, Fanny being one of them. For eight years we follow their lives and challenges of the rich and famous ... with many ups and downs together with some funny side trips. The ending of the book leaves one wondering what comes next.
