Information for parents:

  • When is childcare available?
  • Separation anxiety
  • What to bring for your child?
  • Illness policy
  • Information on childcare providers

Diaper Bag

Please include in your diaper bag the following items:

  • A complete change of clothes
  • A bottle if you bottle-feed.
  • Extra diapers
  • Anything your child might need for comfort or security, such as a special blanket or pacifier.

Separation Anxiety
At this age, some children may cry when you leave them in our care in the Nursery. This reaction is a normal, healthy show of preference for parents. Most children usually stop crying within a few minutes. The behavior may resurface again at a later developmental stage. It seems to help children if you reassure and leave them quickly and return only when you are ready to pick them up. If your efforts to comfort them fail, we will page you to return to the nursery. Parents are welcome to remain in the nursery with your child or take them with you.

Illness
If your child is not feeling well, please do not expose other children or volunteers. We cannot accept a child who is ill. Some signs of illness are:

  • Unusual fatigue or irritability
  • Coughing, sneezing or colored discharge from nose or eyes
  • Fever
  • Vomiting or diarrhea
  • Inflamed mouth or throat

If we find your child is ill, we will page you to come and get him/her. Your child’s comfort is up-most in our hearts.

Childcare Provision Policy

Childcare Mission Statement:
To enable families to participate in the life of the congregation by providing nurturing and age appropriate care for children 6th grade and under.

NCPC will provide childcare for infants through Sixth grade. Our paid and volunteer caregivers have a heart for children and are trained in childcare, CPR/first aid and nursery procedures. The children who join us are played with and read to, and the older toddlers and children may do art projects or play a variety of games that interest their age group. We look forward to providing care for these children so that families can play an active role in church life, whether worshiping, studying, or participating in a ministry team.

In order to effectively provide childcare, the Nursery/Childcare Coordinator must receive notice that childcare is needed a minimum of two (2) weeks in advance of the event, class or meeting. Otherwise, we cannot guarantee that childcare will be provided. In addition, parents/guardians must sign up for childcare so that we can plan for the appropriate number of caregivers. The list of children signed up should be provided to the Nursery/Childcare Coordinator a minimum of one (1) week in advance. Sign up forms are available from the Nursery/Childcare Coordinator. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to care for children who have not been previously registered.

We are committed to supporting parents/guardians as they seek to actively participate in the life of the congregation, in ministry and seek to grow spiritually. We are also called to be good stewards of our time, talent and treasure. Therefore, the following is an explanation of when and how childcare is provided:

Events that are covered:

  • Any meeting, event, or class scheduled on Tuesday or Wednesday night from 7-9 p.m.
  • Any meeting, event or class scheduled on Tuesday morning from 9:15-11:15 a.m.
  • All Church wide events, activities and leadership training. Childcare is provided until 9 p.m.

Examples covered but not limited to: The Healing Service, Congregational Meetings, any services apart from the regular Sunday Worship Service
All other events will be addressed as follows:

  • Covered, if Budget allows
  • Ministry Team hosting event may be asked to help cover the costs ($2.00 per hour per child), not to exceed the actual cost of care for the event
  •  Individual participants may be asked to help cover the cost ($2.00 per hour per child)

We do not wish childcare costs to discourage anyone from participating in church-related activities. If there is a demonstrated financial need, a scholarship will be provided. The scholarships are made available at the discretion of the Nursery/Childcare Ministry Team.
