Pastor Paul Strawn
Where do you go for fun? If we believe the ads on TV, the “number one place for fun” these days would be one of our local casinos. Perhaps for you it is a concert at Benaroya or The Gorge. For some, fun is the family Fourth of July picnic with all the cousins together. Maybe for you is it Saturday afternoon at the mall, a whitewater kayak trip, or a night out with best friends.
When it comes to fun, I don’t think anyone can outdo God. Just imagine flinging stars into galaxies, resting after a morning spent opening rhododendron blossoms, teaching the spider to spin or pushing the button on a long-dormant volcano. God must have more fun than any of us can imagine: wild waves at your fingertips, a jump over the moon to begin the day, dancing with a butterfly on a daisy and then wrapping up another adventure with a double rainbow.
And God continues to do all this and so much more for us to enjoy. I am absolutely certain that God is delighted when people really enjoy this life he has given to us. And I believe God has given us all the tools we need to do just that. That is why I am a pastor – I want people to live and to love to the fullest.
I have fun preaching, but I also have fun practicing what I preach. If I am not in my office or at a meeting, you might find me out fly fishing on one of our local lakes, driving I-90 to Ellensburg to visit our grandson, puttering in the garden with my wife, Kathy, sitting on the deck with a good book (and maybe asleep), or planning our next family adventure.
I think you will find North Creek Presbyterian Church a place for fun too!
